In recent years there has been a shift in surf fashion trends, away from the big corporate brands, and towards the smaller, more subtle and classic brands. Perhaps the problem lies with the Quiksilver, Ripcurl, Billabong etc brands of the world manufacturing lower quality products, sticking a massive logo across the front of them, and pricing them at a whopping £80. I personally would rather take my hard earned wage elsewhere.

The time has come for the smaller, quality surf brands to rise up and step into the limelight. Brands such as Oxbow, O’Shea, Rapanui, Muzzdawg… are proving to manufacture higher quality products, with better value for money, and the kind of subtle classic branding that makes you feel proud to wear their products, without screaming ‘look at me in my branded t-shirt!’
